Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah – Chief Executive Officer, Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation

Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has been Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation since 2003. He has 25 years' unique experience in advising governments, multinational corporations, international banks and multilateral organisations. From 1994-1997 he was Ghana's Ambassador to the USA and Mexico. Other positions include Minister of Communications in Ghana (1997-1998), Acting Minister of Mines & Energy (1999), and Minister of Education (1998-2001).

His career has included being Head of Communications at the US$33 billion African Development Bank, External Relations Officer of the International Finance Corporation (World Bank group) in Washington DC, and in mortgage banking in New Jersey. He has substantial experience in global advertising and public relations, and as Chairman, Middle East and Africa of Hill & Knowlton, he counselled leading global banks and advised governments in Indonesia, Turkey, Austria and Holland.
